Thursday Toddler Group

The Thursday Toddler Group currently has 27 children on the register with 13 mums, 1 dad, 1 grandma, 1 Auntie and 2 Childminders who regularly attend.

The majority of our Mums who had been with us for years left last July when their youngest child started school or pre-school. One of the Mums organised a farewell meal which we were invited.

In September we re-started with a new intake of Mums and children and the dynamics are totally different. We have several younger mums who are just starting their families so these wil potentially be with us for many years. One of our new Mums is a music teacher and is happy to lead singing at the end of each session.

At Christmas all the children made a Christingle to take home. Father Christmas came and gave each child a nativity story book.

As with the Friday group personal circumstances change and work commitments might mean that we may not alt be able to continue running the group. This will be brought to the Deacons if and when the situation arises.

The Toy Library ticks over well with the subs from Toddlers and hire of toys.

Friday Toddler Group

We currently have 28 children who attend regularly, although it is rare that they all attend on the same week (average attendance is approx 20 children). We also have two expectant mums which will bring our total up to 30. These 30 children represent 27 families. Although the numbers remain fairly static since last year, approximately half the group are new members that have replaced children that have left the group to start nursery, school or who have moved away. The group has a waiting list that always has at least 5 children waiting. The group seems to have a good reputation and parents seem to enjoy coming. Quite a few of the families that attend come through recommendation from family or friends. We have 4 families from the Pilmere Estate who currently attend.

We now regularly have requests for prayer for various needs within the group, mostly health related and the answers to some of those prayers have been amazing When we first started the group we met regularly to pray for the work of toddlers but for various reasons this did not continue, however since the mid week bible study group has started Julie has been able to share prayer requests with the others in that group (whilst not sharing personal details) and they have been praying for the toddler group, which has been great. We advertise regularly to the parents the prayer service on the notice board and in our ‘Toddler times’ newsletter which we give out each term. As well offering to pray we have been able to offer practical help and support to various group members when they have shared a need with us.

Pastoral visits

Jeff has continued to visit the group regularly throughout the year and has been able to speak to parents about various issues that affect them and also with some parents who would like their children dedicated.
